As you may know by now I am not a fan of creating a product and then trying to find people to buy the product. I prefer to do it the other way around, find the customers and buyers and then produce a product I know they are looking for or need.

In short - Find a demand and offer supply.

Marketing experts are all agree that you need to know your customer/s. This includes knowing how they think, what it is that they like and what they are willing to pay or their perception of the value of your product or service.

Once you know this then you are going to know how to communicate to your customer the right way. Customers like you and I buy with emotion but also look at the purchase in a more rational way. For example, when buying a car you look at the sports car in red with a big fat engine and loud CD palyer but once you settle down and realise it only has two seats and the petrol is going to cost a fortune you then settle for the rational decision. Yes, you still buy a car but the one that made sense after you researched the market.

So, you need to know what customers think of you and your products. To do this you will need to survey your customers or prospects and we do this on forums or blogs etc. Start asking questions within your chosen market place - Survey the people on these sites and you will soon get to know what makes them tick.

Always be yourself on these forums as this is what will bring people to you or away from you. You don’t want a list of customers who are not willing to buy from you. People buy from people and a lot can be assumed in emails or on forums.

There is a whole lot more to this and I have included a whole chapter on this in my Home Study Guide for Staring and Online Business. It contains detailed step by step instructions on how to start an online business and market it correctly to the world.

Until next time
